In view of RTE-2009 as well as NCF-2005, the primary education curriculum, syllabus and textbooks as well as the entire education-process are being changed across the country. This change is mainly about our understanding of the subjects and the learning process. The main objective of the new curriculum is to develop the creativity, thinking, reasoning and analytical skills of the child. The activities given in these textbooks are organized in such a way that after the activity there can be discussion or reflection, application and what has been learned. Efforts have been made to create textbooks that are helpful in the learning process where children often have the opportunity to learn to work individually as well as collectively in small or large groups. Of course, according to the new curriculum, the textbook itself is ultimately a learning-material, not a goal. It means that it is a means, not a remedy. Therefore, even though the textbook itself cannot be the tool of the entire education, it can be said that this type of activity-oriented education is probably being used for the first time. It is hoped that through the use of these textbooks, the learning-teaching-process will become easier and more interesting.
The entire process of new curriculum, syllabus and text book creation is getting constant inspiration and encouragement from Hon'ble Chief Secretary as well as Primary Education Secretary.
Throughout this process the IGNUS-erg team members have also provided constant guidance and equipped the State Resource Group members. UNICEF has also been supported throughout this process. Members of the core group of the subject have also contributed from time to time.
After a trial of one year, we have tried to make these textbooks of class 6th to 8th prepared for the entire state flawless. However, if there is a defect, it is requested to draw attention.
